Brooklyn Globetrotter
Whew lots to say and I’m feeling way too lazy to type right now. I intend to make this brief but knowing me, it won’t be. Moving on…
So Yahoo released this cool tool called Pipes, I used it to create a Mega feed of all my crap (now serving feeds from twitter, this blog, the comments on this blog, yelp, flickr, picasaweb, and my amazon wishlist). It’s kind of tricky to get the items for each of the feeds to show up in the order they were posted but I’m working on it using the union operator seemed to do the trick. So, if you want to know way too much about what I’m up to and don’t like to wait on blog entries, here you go: You’re a Stalker but its OK. FYI, I piped the pipes output through Feedburner because I like to see the stats. What can I say, I’m a reformed math nerd, I like numbers.
So I went to Ohio last weekend to see Rod before my trip to the other side of the world (more on that later). Its weird, after living in New York for a little while, everything else seems like a quaint small town. We were riding around Cleveland and all I could think was “Hmm, these buildings are short.” Funny how much my perspective has changed from 3 years ago in Fairbanks.
As I mentioned up-post, I’m making a trip across the pond. For a month. It will be a good departure from New York as I don’t think I’ll ever make a real New Yorker. My destination is Italy and I plan to take many pictures and many trips around the country while I’m there. I’m open to suggestions of places that are must see. I’ve been told I must try the wine but I’m looking forward to the food (this is me we’re talking about here).
Oooo this just in! Google Talk now has a gadget for the personalized homepage. Bonus, is that you can add it to ANY webpage. Expect to see it here as soon as I figure out a good way to integrate it with my template. Also, you all know how much I love the Firefox Sidebar so I will borrow an idea suggested by Ludwik Trammer…use it in the sidebar! This is a great trick for those of you who can’t install the Windows based Google Talk client (wink wink, nudge nudge my fellow Mac and Linux users). Okay so I’m really excited about this because in a pre-Googler life, I was an early adopter of Google Talk so it holds a warm place in my heart. Many kudos to the Talk team!
Oi so I had about 5 more topics to blog about but this is already too long and I need to go pack. I guess I’ll save them for the next post which should come to you live from Italy. Have a wonderful weekend peeps!
Update: MegaFeed replaced with FriendFeed.
